Type
This field is used to specify which type of time period. Current built-in values include:
Weekly -- note that you can have multiple time periods of the same type if you like. For example, you may have several weekly time periods defined either for the purposes of distributing system load or perhaps to allow for differing business rules (e.g. you don't want one group of users to have the End User Adjustment capability). You may also choose to have multiple weekly time periods, for example, if one groups week begins on Sunday and another group's week begins on Monday.
Every Two Weeks (aka bi-weekly)
Twice a Month (aka semi-monthly) -- typically setup as the 1st through the 15th and then 16th through the end of the month.
Monthly
Weekly Overlap -- This period is a weekly period with the end date of one period and the beginning date of the next period overlapping/occurring on the same day. This may be useful, for example, to organizations that provide for flexible schedules that include every other Friday off (yet still want to attempt to use dilution -- which would require 40 hours per week charged). By using this type of weekly time period, you could, for example, run a weekly schedule from Friday noon to Friday noon. These schemes are sometimes referred to as 9/80 or 36/44 schedules.
These users could record:
Week 1 = F-0, M-9, T-9, W-9, T-9, F-4 (first half of Friday)
Week 2 = F-4 (second half of Friday), M-9, T-9, W-9, T-9, F-0
In this way, they could record 40 hours per week every week rather than 44 hours one week and 36 hours the next (which would help with dilution calculations).
When working with weekly overlap time periods, you may want to consider enabling the following two properties: Align Rates to Time Period for Weekly or Every Two Weeks Overlap (unatime.weekly_overlap.rate_align) and Prevent Posting on Weekly or Every Two Weeks Overlap Day (unatime.prevent_post_on_weekly_overlap).
Note: In addition to the built-in time period options, it is possible to manually create and maintain additional customized time periods (you will need to contact Unanet support for assistance with customized time period definitions).
